The national flag of Belarus is rectangular with a ratio of length to width of 2:1. The flag has wide red stripes in the half and narrow green stripes in the lower half. On the left side of the flag, there are red and white stripes with national characteristics. Red represents the flag of the Belarusian Legion that defeated the aggressors and symbolizes the glorious past. Green represents forests and fields, and symbolizes the prosperous land and the hope of the future. The pattern on the left represents the continuation of the traditional culture and spirit of the nation and the unity of the people.
